The tweet of course is about a much a reveal as Chewie’s occasional grunts are lines of poetry. This does not mean there is nothing to be excited about. Production wrap only means our baby is secure and ready.
In an interview during Star Wars Celebration, director Rian Johnson shared his thoughts on the upcoming film. “We start zooming in on the characters and getting to the heart of them, challenging them, and pushing them deeper,” he said. As the stakes are probably being raised for our protagonists, we can expect this to be a darker film than The Force Awakens.
The interview, as reported by Gamespot, also gave us a glimpse of the characters who will play a bigger role after being largely elusive in the last film. Mainly, Luke Skywalker. Johnson spoke about the excitement of getting to know the actor Mark Hamill and working on the script.
Darker or not we can all assume it will be an epic entry. After the success of The Force Awakens, the film will have big shoes to fill. Time will tell if they do. Episode VIII will be released in theaters on December 15, 2017. Luckily, we won’t have to wait too long for our Star Wars fix, since Rouge One hits theaters this December.
What are your predictions for the upcoming film? Will we see a new side of Kylo Ren? Will Rei’s parents be revealed? And will Leia finally hug Chewbacca? Tell us your thoughts below, and “may the force be with you.”
